+What are your business hours?
We make moves happen every day, 365 days a year. Most moves take place 7AM-11PM, but our team is happy to accommodate after hour moves when needed. *Holiday appointments are scheduled on a limited basis.
+What are your prices?
Local moving in the state of Illinois is charged by the hour, but our hourly rate depends on the number of crew members it takes to safely and efficiently complete your move. Get your free moving estimate today!
+Do you have an hourly minimum?
Yes, our hourly minimum is only two hours.
+How far in advance should I schedule my move?
If you are limited by any date and time restraints, we recommend scheduling your move as far in advance as possible, especially if you plan on moving in summer. New City Moving does not require any deposit or cancellation fees, so there is no downside to booking your move early. However, if you call short notice with any last minute requests, our team will do everything they can to accommodate you and your move.
+What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, postal money order, and all major credit cards.
+Do you require a deposit?
We do not require a deposit. We understand plans change and we do not believe in enforcing penalties for changes or cancellations. However, if you foresee any changes and need to change your move or cancel your move date and time, we do appreciate as much notice as possible, that way we can work with you to reschedule your move! Advanced notice also allows us to release your original move date and time to another customer on our waitlist.
+What size moves can you accommodate?
New City Moving provides all types of moving services including local moving (as long as it stays within Illinois), office and commercial building moves, piano moving, even art and antique moving.
+What areas do you service?
We service local moves within the entire state of Illinois and are happy to assist with long distance moves to the states of Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Iowa and Minnesota!
+Do you move pianos and pool tables?
New City Moving can move pianos, but we recommend a professional pool table company to disassemble and reassemble your prized pool table. However, we would be happy to relocate it for you!
+What is a standard tip for my movers?
Tipping is certainly optional, but our crews appreciate it if you decide to provide gratuity for exceptional service. The amount is left to your discretion, but we recommend $5-$10 per mover per hour of excellent service.
+What if something gets damaged during my move.
While damage is rare, extenuating circumstances do sometimes occur that can result in damaged articles. Our team will always do our best to repair any damages quickly and to your satisfaction, but if you need to report a damage claim, simply contact your move coordinator and they will work with you to take care of everything right away.
+Do you provide equipment for my move?
Yes! All of our moving trucks are equipped with dollies, blankets, and all the moving essentials our crew needs to make your move a success. While basic moving equipment is standard with each move, your move coordinator will itemize any additional materials you may need access to on move day.
+What if my move takes less or more time than the estimate?
An estimate is just that, an estimate, so it is possible the actual hours of move may differ slightly. To ensure you only pay for the time you actually use, all bills are prorated to the closest 15 minutes (after the 2 hour minimum has been met).
+Can I help during the move?
While you are more than welcome to help get things ready for the moving crew, our insurance does not allow anyone other than the New City Moving crew members to load and unload the moving truck. We encourage you to take this time to kick back and relax as the heavy lifting gets done for you!
